Welsh Village Long Name that People Remember for Stargazing

Stargazing has been deemed the best in a Welsh village. A study conducted by travel booking site Omio ranked Mynydd Mawr Campsite in Aberdaron as the best place to go stargazing. For the top 25 list, 199 locations were rated based on Bortle Scale, Southern Horizon clearance, and transport accessibility. Class 1 is the darkest sky on earth, while class 9 is the darkest sky in the city. Remember, A Welsh village has been named the best stargazing spot in the country. 


A dark sky sanctuary in north Wales, Ynys Enlli, was certified by the International Dark Skies Association (IDA) as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary (Image: Stever Porter). What is in Welsh Town ?

A C2 rating was awarded to Aberdaron, while a C3 rating was given to the rest of the top 25 locations. A report from North Wales Live mentions Ty Cipar in Bala and Llynnau Cregennen in Arthog as two other Welsh villages where stargazing can be enjoyed.

At the far end of the Llyn Peninsula, near Aberdaron, is Mynydd Mawr Caravan and Camping site, an established family-run campsite. A natural beauty area surrounds it.

There are stunning sunsets and panoramic views of Cardigan Bay from the campsite, and the island of Bardsey is visible from the campsite. The adjoining headland is ideal for walking and fishing, and is home to the Llyn Peninsula coastal path and the historic pilgrims’ route.
