According to local police, 3 children died, aged 8, 10 and 11, and another remains in critical condition after falling into an icy lake near Birmingham, central England.

Yesterday afternoon, three boys tragically drowned after falling into a pond at Babbs Mill Park in Solihull. The boys, aged 11, 10 and 8, were taken to hospital after being pulled from the water. According to a statement from the West Midlands.

At the end of the day on Sunday, the British emergency services reported that four children had suffered a cardiac arrest in two hospitals in the United Kingdom, after being removed from the lake.

After being alerted, firefighters and paramedics pulled the minors from the water during the afternoon.

Firefighters and ambulance drivers tried to revive the children immediately after they were pulled from the water, said Richard Stanton, of the region’s fire service.

“Unfortunately, they suffered cardiac arrest and received advanced resuscitation treatment at the hospital,” explained Cameron McVittie of the local ambulance service.
