Lowest Fares Announcement for Hertfordshire Bus

Hertfordshire Bus: The cost of a single journey across most routes in Hertfordshire is set at no more than £2 from now until 31st March 2023.

Partnerships have been formed between the Department for Transport and operators to launch a £2 bus fare cap. During this winter and early spring, residents will be able to enjoy lower fares thanks to Hertfordshire County Council’s support.

By reducing bus fare caps, millions of people will have access to affordable bus travel despite cost of living pressures. As a result of the fare cap, you will save 30% on an average single fare of £2.80*

The scheme is supported by Arriva, Centrebus, Stagecoach, and UNO in Hertfordshire. Besides HertLynx, HertLynx provides on-demand journeys throughout North and East Hertfordshire.

Big Offer for Hertfordshire Bus Travelers

Our bus services are a lifeline for our residents. Therefore, we are pleased to offer them the £2 fare cap scheme, said Phil Bibby, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Hertfordshire County Council.

Hertfordshire’s overall plan to make the county healthier, cleaner, and greener cannot be achieved without a reliable public transport system, particularly for our rural communities.”

Approximately half of all journeys in England are made by bus, according to Richard Holden MP, Minister for Buses.

To support every passenger and get people back on buses, we are investing £60 million to cap single bus fares at £2.

This scheme is expected to eliminate two million car journeys between 1st January and 31st March, and it’s encouraging to see so many bus operators sign up.”
