British touring car championship 2023

A motor racing championship for production-based touring cars, the Kik Fit[1] British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) will be held in England and Scotland in 2023. A mix of professional and amateur drivers will participate in the championship, driving highly modified versions of cars sold to the general public and adhering to the championship’s technical regulations. As of this season, the British Touring Car Championship is in its 66th year and Next Generation Touring Cars are in their 13th.

Thruxton’s second round was replaced by Donington Park’s Grand Prix layout for the first time since 2002 when the 2023 schedule was announced on 31 May 2022.

The Excelr8 team will remain with Tom Ingram through 2023

This morning, Tom Ingram announced he has extended his contract with Excelr8 through 2023.

Following a seven-year stint with Toyota, Ingram joined Excelr8 for the 2021 season. Ingram achieved his maiden podium at Thruxton after switching to the Hyundai. The following weekend at Snetterton, Ingram achieved one better by reaching the top of the podium. The win was the first of three Ingram and Excelr8 would celebrate together, along with six podium finishes.

From his first test in the Hyundai, the 28-year-old felt ‘fully at home’. He is eager to continue and improve on last year’s success.

I’ve been nearly manning the BTCC too often, but after a strong first year at EXCELR8, coupled with the new challenge of learning hybrid technology, I’ve never felt so motivated than now. We will 100 per cent come out of the blocks fighting, and we aim to start as we mean to go on – that means gaining pole position from the outset and winning.

This season, Excelr8 team owner Justina Williams reiterated Ingram’s comments, highlighting their shared goals.

Over the past few months, we have been working hard to ensure we can hit the ground running at the beginning of the championship’s upcoming hybrid era. This will ensure that we don’t rest on our laurels at all. ‘Tom is an integral part of that puzzle, and we are all delighted to have him here for the next two years. His attitude and approach inspire everybody to perform at their best, and he is an excellent team leader. I’m looking forward to finding out what we will achieve together in 2022 and 2023. Tom is one of the best drivers on the BTCC grid and undoubtedly a champion in the making.
